Mig Welding Ability



Mig Welding Ability, In general terms, the weldability is “the attitude with which a material is suitable for the construction of buildings in which structural continuity is ensured with features and quality you want.” To determine the weldability must be taken into account several factors:

  • melting temperature of the material base;
  • melting temperature of the oxides;
  • protection needs gas – to prevent oxidation;
  • preparation of the leaflets;
  • need to clean mechanically and / or chemically parties before bringing them together;
  • severe sensitivity to thermal cycling – the possible occurrence of porosity;
  • susceptibility to hot cracks;
  • fluidity – problems during sopratesta welding or vertically;
  • thermal and electrical conductivity;
  • shrinkage.

The weldability of a material should be reported to the welding process applied – for example, alloys of Al are well weldable with TIG or MIG techniques but can not be welded with oxy-acetylene flame. The MIG and TIG processes involving the use of inert gases to protect the weld and the surrounding material.

In addition to methods of fusion welding, for welding of Al alloys are used in the solid state welding processes such as welding or friction Friction Stir Welding.

In order to join aluminum materials with much higher melting temperature (eg steel) is used for explosion welding process, or you can make soldering.
